Ghana, BAMS , Winter 2011 Minimize

 

Ghana, located in West Africa has prominent place in American history because of it's role in Trans-Atlantic slave trade. Study abroad programme in Ghana will be inter disciplinary cross cultural academic event. It will expose students to ancient african traditions and  provide authentic experience to  African culture. At the same time this will give a opportunity engage in meaningful problem solving activities.

Courses:

Student must enroll in all courses for credit and grade. Pass/Fail and audit registration is not permitted. Please refer to University Catalog to verify requirements and prerequisities.
Honors credit may be available. Check with the faculty director and the Honors program for prior approval (before departure).
All students must enroll in 6 credits, as well as the 0-credit UNIV course.

BAMS309 - Political Culture by Country: Ghana (3 cr.)

This class introduces students to the issues associated with of development and governance in Ghana and West Africa. In particular, students will explore how the political culture of Ghana and other West African nations have influenced the regions’ economic and social development. Cross listed with POSC 309.

FLLT267 - Contemporary West Africa (3 cr.)

This course provides an academic and interactive survey of contemporary West Africa’s civilization and culture with special emphasis on Ghana.

POSC309 - Political Culture by Country: Ghana (3 cr.)

UNIV370 - Study Abroad - Ghana (0 cr.)

Students are asked to reflect upon changes in their knowledge, skills, and attitudes that occur due to their study abroad experience.
Satisfies the following requirements:
      Fulfills Discovery Learning (DLE) requirement.
