Erica Armstrong Dunbar specializes in 19th century African American and Women’s History. She received her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1994 and her Ph.D. from Columbia in 2000. She is working on her first book entitled, "A Fragile Freedom: African-American Women and Emancipation in the Antebellum City", forthcoming on Yale University Press.
